I have been trying to learn basic level of action scripting to make interactive turnarounds but so far I've only been able to achieve making a pause and play button and a preloader. What can I say, coding really isn't my thing. If any of you know how to action scripting and would like to help out then do let me know. I would like to know how to add key trace function for frame by frame slide show type of thing.

Gorgeous! Looks like a real life Frank Cho drawing

If you tweaked the model to look like Red Sonja and made that available for download so we can 3D print it, you'd be the most popular man in the world :beer:

Love Frank Cho's work.

I rather make a new sculpt than modify older ones. :)

Oh!Wow! Thanks.

Your gallery is amazing BTW. I have this sudden urge to turn one of your artworks into 3D. Not that there is any need because its already so very 3D. :D

That is a gorgeous sculpt, and the turnaround really shows it off beautifully. But I totally get why you'd want it fully interactive. Who wouldn't want to pause this now and then to really study it?

Hah Zbrush. The more you fear it, the more scary it is. I wasted one year being afraid of it. Trick is to just start making random stuff before you do something specific.

I will update my journal when I open for commissions again. Thanks.

Hah, I don't fear it, I'm just incompetent with it...for now. But I know I'll get there. :)

Not sure exactly what you want to do, but there is a simple command, if I recall correct called: gotoAndStop("keyframe");
This would jump to scertain frame and freeze there. Theres also gotoAndPlay("keyframe");

then it's just a matter of making a logic operation. Maybe binding mouse position to different keyframes or if you want a slider or something.

Maybe that will help you some, awesome model btw.

I think I need to add keyListeners but not sure. I really am a noob at this. Basically what I want to do is that if you press left or right on the keyboard it stops the animation and lets you play it frame by frame. Thanks.

Yup, you need an event listener for that, once the even is triggerd you can call a method/function that executes the code as you want.
So it'd be something like:

stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.Key_Down, FUNCTION_NAME_TO_CALL);
//here we make it so that the whole stage, afaik the root, listens for for the specific event. When a key is pressed down, it will run the function, or call the function specified to the right, in this case FUNCTION_NAME_TO_CALL and pass the event that triggerd it. NOTE, the Key_Down event will trigger over and over very fast as long as you hold the key down,  alternatively you can use Key_Up and it will only

function FUNCTION_NAME_TO_CALL(event:KeyboardEvent):void
{
      //code to bexectued
}
//inside this function you want to specify how to handle the event. You can get what key got pressed through the "event" variable.  event.Keycode should return what key was pressed, so you will just need to compare that to the keys you're intrested in, and if one of them is found, execute some code.

example:
if(event.KeyCode == Keyboard.RIGHT)
{
     gotoAndStop(currentframe + 1 ); //not legit code, but you get the jest. -1 if you press left.
}

Hope that gives you som ideas.

try checking this example: edutechwiki.unige.ch/en/Action…

good luck! :)

Wups. I should've mentioned that I am using Action Script 2.0. Will it work for AS2 as well?

Thanks.

Oh... well that complicates things a bit, the best I could find on that:

var keyListener:Object = new Object();
keyListener.onKeyDown = function() {
   if(Key.getCode() == 32)
      {
          //do something here for space bar press
      }
};
Key.addListener(keyListener);

I checked other sources, they suggest adding the listener to the 'Key' object too, instead of the stage using AS2.
Everything else should be fine.
You might need to get the correct keycode so you dont compare to spacebar... 37 seems to be left arrow and 39 right arrow. Google is your friend here! :)
